MasterCard is first and foremost a technology company and communicating aspects of the payments industry to other business partners can be a challenge. My job as a professional designer is to make dense technical information accesible and engaging visually. Sometimes color and shape can highlight details, other times a very human photograph is the right note to connect the technical with the end user.
Often as Creative Director in the in-house studio with a penchant for working late I would get fun 11th hour projects like designing the name, logo and daily color changing masthead for an executive level golf event. We sent files to a local digital printer and the event admin printed the daily schedule on them at the hotel. The whole project from request to delivery was less than 24 hours.
